1. How Is The "math literacy course" Different From The Math Content Of The Main GMAT And GRE Courses?

It's All In The Treatment Of The Background Math Skills!
Background Skills Defined: For the purposes of the GMAT and GRE quantitative sections background skills include: arithmetic, algebra, geometry, counting methods, properties of numbers and the specific vocabulary associated with them.

Think of it this way:

"Math Literacy" - From the background math skills forward to the GMAT or GRE test question.

Our "Math Literacy Course" is a math course designed to help you with GMAT and GRE (and other tests ….) The environment is a math class.

Our "Math Literacy Course" begins with the background skills in isolation and moves forward to the GMAT/GRE question types. In our "Math Literacy Course" an approximate breakdown would be:

80% background math skills and 20% focus on GMAT or GRE questions.

GMAT And GRE Courses - From the test question backwards to the background math skills

Our GMAT and GRE courses are GMAT and GRE specific training programs where the focus is on the specific format, content, answer choices, and strategies designed to answer that specific question type. The environment is that of a GMAT or GRE class.

Our GMAT and GRE Courses - Mastering The GMAT, One Weekend GMAT Intensive, One Weekend GRE Intensive, GMAT Verbal, GMAT Math.

Although these courses include a discussion of background skills where necessary, the focus of these courses is the specific multiple choice format of the GMAT or GRE. For a complete discussion of these courses and the approaches taught, we encourage you to visit our GMAT Course Information page or our GRE Course Information page.

Our GMAT and GRE courses BEGIN with an introduction to the multiple choice format of the GMAT or GRE question types and teach various approaches to solving these problems. Although background math skills are explored, these courses are not for the specific purpose of reviewing GMAT and GRE background skills.

In our GMAT and GRE courses an approximate breakdown is: 80% GMAT or GRE questions and 20% background math skills.

2. What Is The Purpose Of The "math literacy course?"

The "Math Literacy Course" is a math course that has been designed specifically to help you with the GMAT and GRE.

The "Math Literacy Course" is a "stand alone" background math skills course. It is a skills, review and quantitative literacy course designed for people who want to increase their comfort level with the background math skills (how do we solve it?) and quantitative vocabulary (what does this concept mean?) that are assumed by many GMAT and GRE test questions. These topics usually do not extend beyond what is commonly taught in the early years of high school math.

In the "Math Literacy Course" the math is introduced, reviewed and reinforced outside the context of GMAT and GRE multiple choice questions. We also work very hard to help you "redefine questions" so that you understand what you are really being asked to do.

The "Math Literacy Course" will END with an introduction to the format of the GMAT and GRE math question formats.

3. How Can The "math literacy course" Be Used?

The "Math Literacy Course" may be used as either a "stand alone course" ($200) or as a FREE option for those who take any or our GMAT or GRE courses.

Stand Alone Course - If taken as a "stand alone" course the Math Literacy course will increase the value to you of home study.

PREP For Our Main GMAT or GRE Course - Our "Math Literacy Course" will equip you to get even more out of our main GMAT or GRE courses.
