Part I - About The LSAT - LSAC.org

What - The LSAT (Law School Admission Test) is a multiple-choice standardized (everybody gets the same questions) test. It is required by virtually every law school in North America. A sample LSAT may be downloaded at www.lsac.org

When - The LSAT is administered four times a year on most university campuses.

How Much - The fee to take the LSAT varies from year to year.

Registration Deadline - One must register to take the LSAT and there is a deadline for registration.

More Information - All information about the LSAT may be found at www.LSAC.org

The Case For The June LSAT

Assuming you are able to plan ahead, we recommend that you take the LSAT in June and that you take it the first June that you are free. The reasons are:

1. You can prep in May where there are fewer conflicts with other academic commitments.

2. It leaves you with October as a "back up" (should you need it). October is better than December because in September you will have fewer academic commitments.

3. Why the first June you are free? There is no reason to leave the LSAT until the June immediately prior to the fall application deadline. If you are free this May - get the LSAT out of the way!

Part II - About The Law School Application Process

The complete law school admissions process is time consuming and complex. In order to get you pointed in the right direction you need to know that for:

Ontario Law School Applications - The deadline date is November 1. Applications may be obtained by calling the Ontario Law School Application Centre at: (519) 823-1940 Ext. 558

Other Canadian Law Schools - They have different deadline dates. You must communicate with them directly. Links to each of them are available from the Law Services site at www.lsac.org.

U.S. Law Schools - They have different deadline dates. You must communicate with them directly. Links to each of them are available at www.lsac.org.

What Our Course Teaches - The Approach

Our course teaches approach. We teach systematic ways of eliminating wrong answers. We teach the identification of right answers.

The LSAT is not a test of background knowledge. Rather, it is a test of reading and reasoning. The LSAT is administered four times a year (usually in October, December, February and June). It is important that a score on say the June test has the same meaning as a score on the October test. To achieve consistency, every edition of the LSAT must measure the same things in approximately the same ways. As a result, LSAT questions are the "end product" of specific rules of design.

Our course exploits this design requirement. We teach specific principles of approach that will allow you to "identify" the answers to LSAT multiple choice questions. These principles INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • diagraming techniques
  • the recognition of ways that LSAT test designers make wrong answers seem attractive
  • the recognition of ways that LSAT test designers make right answers seem unattractive
  • the best order to attack LSAT questions
  • reading "between the lines" in reading comprehension
  • avoiding "clutter" in logical reasoning
